Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

These terms govern your use of Beacon. By using the app, you agree to them. We've kept them short and readable on purpose.

The basics

  • Beacon is a social app for spontaneous hangouts with friends
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Beacon
  • You're responsible for keeping your account secure
  • One account per person — no bots, no fake accounts

Your content

You own what you create. Your beacons, comments, and profile info belong to you.

By posting content, you give us permission to display it to your friends and operate the service. We won't use your content for advertising or sell it to anyone.

You can delete your content at any time. When you delete your account, we delete your data.

Acceptable use

Don't use Beacon to:

  • Harass, bully, or threaten others
  • Post illegal content or coordinate illegal activities
  • Spam or send unsolicited messages
  • Impersonate others or create misleading accounts
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts
  • Reverse engineer or attack the service

We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. Serious violations may be reported to authorities.

Friends and blocking

  • Friend requests require acceptance — you control who sees your beacons
  • You can remove friends or block users at any time
  • Blocked users can't see your profile, beacons, or contact you

The service

We're building Beacon actively. Features may change, and we may have occasional downtime. We'll do our best to keep things running smoothly, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime.

Beacon is provided "as is." We're not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, to the extent permitted by law.

Termination

  • You can delete your account at any time through settings
  • We can suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms
  • We'll try to give notice before termination unless there's an urgent safety concern

Changes to terms

We may update these terms as Beacon evolves. We'll notify you of significant changes. Continuing to use Beacon after changes means you accept the new terms.

Legal bits

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Estonia. For EU residents, this does not affect your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
